The Filter Test procedure was developed by Dr. Bernard Bubis of Novatek to test for sodium hypochlorite clarity. To open a PDF                      document, click on link above.

Both FRP and HDLPE tanks are suitable for the storage of bulk sodium hypochlorite and both have their advantages and disadvantages.        FRP tanks are typically manufactured to a specification while HDPLE tanks are sold in a variety of standard sizes. A suggested FRP                specification can be downloaded here.

This PowerPoint Presentation can be used to identify the issues in designing a bulk sodium hypochlorite system for use in Water                    Treatment and Wastewater Treatment plants. To open a PowerPoint presentation explaining this click here.

With their permission, this document was imported from the Powell Fabrication & Manufacturing Co. website at www.powellfab.com. It          was jointly developed by Dr. Bernard Bubnis of Novachem and Powell Fabrication and contains standard laboratory testing procedures for      performing various analyses on sodium hypochlorite including trade/weight percent determination of sodium hypochlorite, excess sodium      hydroxide, sodium carbonate and sodium chlorate. To open a PDF document of the analyses, click on link above.

To view the explanation of the 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite Specification, click on link above.

This specification for chemical feed equipment can be used for any chemical including sodium hypochlorite. To download as a Word               Document, click on link above.

The suggested sodium bisulfite Bid Specification was developed to provide customers a framework to use as part of their bid process            to ensure they received a high quality product in the safest and most reliable manner.  To download as a Word document, click on                link above.

This EXCEL spreadsheet can be used to calculate the percentage of bromate in potable drinking water based on various inputs including        the chlorine feed rate (in ppm), the concentration of bromate in the sodium hypochlorite (in ppm) and the strength of the sodium                 hypochlorite (in gpl). Bromate is regulated in all drinking water beginning in January 2004 with a maximum MCL of 10 ppb. Current              ANSI/NSF 60 standards limit the contribution from a disinfectant such as sodium hypochlorite to 50% or 5 ppb. There is a pending                proposal to lower this amount to 30% in January 2013 and to 10% in the future. Click here to open the EXCEL spreadsheet.

This thirty page document discusses the chemistry of sodium hypochlorite including terms to define the strength, chlorine gas                      equivalents, and decomposition as well as quality issues and information to aid in the design and use of transportation, storage, and              handling systems.
